Resumo:The present research sought to investigate how the Physical Education teachers of the three stages of teaching (Early Childhood Education, Elementary and Final Years and High School) of the schools of Natal, see the importance of playing for the integral development of the being. As a methodology, qualitative research was adopted, of the descriptive type in which he used a structured interview script. Regarding the procedures adopted for data collection, the source "people" was adopted and to compose the population of this study, Physical Education teachers from the public and private networks of the city of Natal - RN were selected, totaling 6 participants, 1 from Early Childhood Education, 1 from Elementary School initial years, 3 from Elementary School final years and 1 from High School. It was observed that all the teachers interviewed have a satisfactory perception of what was expected for the importance that playing has for the integral development of the human being. However, for Elementary School, the final years and High School, there was a gap between the knowledge understood and what is actually addressed in the classes, especially in High School. A gap was perceived between the knowledge understood and what is actually addressed in the classes, especially in High School, a phase in which the students are in a perspective of extreme demand on the evaluation processes that permeates this stage of teaching Basic Education. About the official documents, the BNCC was unanimously pointed out by the interviewed teachers as the main guideline. For future studies, it is suggested to continue within this same perspective, seeking, however, to reach a greater number of teachers and with different training times, in order to obtain diversified opinions about the perception of these professionals about the importance of playing.
