Resumo:This paper presents research on the continuing education of teachers in a public institution in Natal, with the aim of understanding how the school's teaching professionals work with the limitations of initial training to deal with the multidimensional and diverse context that is presented in schools. We sought to identify whether or not there is a proposal for continuing education that responds to the training demands of teachers and students. The research carried out is exploratory and qualitative, with critical and reflective data analysis. For this, the Pedagogical Political Project made available by the institution was used, as well as the speeches of three teachers arising from a semi-structured interview with a guiding script. With the research it was possible to conclude that although the continuation of training remains as something important within the imaginary of the pedagogue's profession, what is concrete about it in the institutions is still not configured as sufficient for its effectiveness in a structured way. In spite of that, this study, seeking to know more deeply this dimension within the school, has revealed that there are efforts in an attempt to expand the training of teachers, to respond to the transformations imputed to education and to the demands of everyday school life. With the study, it was also possible to conclude that pedagogical planning is an opportunity within schools to promote a training moment in service, and that the quality of education is a common objective between continuing education and the Pedagogical Political Project.
