Resumo:Millennial art of humanity, music is used in foreign language teaching in various ways. In this research which is bibliographical and exploratory, we propose to approach ballads as a pedagogical device in English language teaching as an additiona l language, mainly with regard to writing and readin Based Pedagogy g competencies, considering Sydney School and the Teaching and Learning Cycle (TLC). Based on the ballad “Hurricane”, written and composed by Bob Dylan and Jacques Levy, we ana Genre song, lyze some aspects of the ballad type narrative genre and map the schematic structure of the song as well as propose some adaptations to the TLC of the Reading to Learn (R2L) program, considering a possible pedagogical intervention that utilizes ballads fo r the teaching of English as an Additional Language from the perspective of the Sydney School based Pedagogy .
