Resumo: | Taking competitive advantage or satisfying the client are reasons that, increasingly, companies seek to implement a Quality Management System (QMS). It brings benefits such as the improvement in the processes, products and services, the enhancement of the company’s image (marketing) and satisfaction of the clients. This paper aims to review the literature about motivation, benefits, difficulties and barriers of ISO 9001 certification. The methodology assessed was the literature review of the last 10 years (2004-2014) in
