Resumo: | The objective of this study is to analyze how the policy of permanence and teacher
training adopted by the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte is based on the
Institutional Program of Scholarship Initiation to Teaching - Pibid in undergraduate
courses at UFRN . For its accomplishment, were used as technical procedures the
documentary analysis, bibliographical revision, analysis of historical series and
tabulation of quantitative data. The documentary analysis provided knowledge about
the national and international guidelines for Brazilian higher education, focusing on
policies of teacher training and permanence; the bibliographic review allowed the
deepening of the knowledge related to the thematic; the analysis of a historical series
allowed the recognition of the reality in its different peculiarities, allowing us to verify
the implementation and the scope of the Pibid in the university, the reflexes of the
Program for the teacher formation and the productions realized by the graduates of
the subprojects. The studies indicate that, in view of the demand for a better
qualification in higher education courses, Brazil has had to adapt to this need by
integrating a greater number of individuals at this level of education, guaranteeing
students' access to and stay in undergraduate courses, especially in licentiate
degree. This is because the public entering these courses are mostly students from
the less advantaged social class. In addition, the training of teachers in the country is
marked by difficulties related to the valorisation and encouragement of the career,
demanding permanent policies for teacher education. In this way, Pibid has been
configured as an important program of permanence of valorization and incentive to
the teaching profession, for fomenting the initiation to teaching to the students of the
licenciatura courses, making possible the insertion of the graduating one in the
school routine, aiming to contribute with its formation and with the quality of Brazilian
public basic education. As for the reality of UFRN, we can infer that the Program
contributed to the permanence of students not only through paid scholarships, but
also through the encouragement of the teaching profession through teacher
reaffirmation. Through the results of the research carried out by the Program in 2016
about the performance in its training areas, we infer that Pibid fulfilled its objective of
stimulating the teaching career through the valorisation of the profession, by
fomenting the initiation of teaching in formation initial teacher. |
