This thesis had as main objective to investigate, based on autobiographical narratives of
children in treatment of chronic diseases, their ways of perceiving the processes of entry
and return to the regular school. We took as object of study the experiences of 3 (three)
children in treatment of chronic diseases about their processes of entrance in the school or
return to it. In our research, we adopted the epistemological principles of autobiographical
research in education. We also guide ourselves in childhood studies, in cultural
psychology, in a narrativist perspective, and in theories of schooling in the context of
illness. The research involved 03 (three) mothers and 03 (three) children, aged between 05
(five) and 06 (six), who had pedagogical support in the hospital class, the research locus,
between the years 2014 and 2017. The research corpus is constituted by the narratives
transcription of three sick children, which were produced in a make-believe situation, in
conversation with the researcher and a small alien, called Alien, who comes from a planet
where there are not schools; children's drawings; transcription of narrative interviews with
the children´s mothers; notes in the researcher's field diary about the research activities and
observations experienced during the field activities. The analysis revealed that the
processes of entry and return to the regular school are full of challenges for the sick child,
however, they represent, essentially, the return to a normal life. In conclusion, the
children's narratives corroborated with the affirmation of the hospital class as an important
ally in the access to schooling and continuity of studies by sick children during health
treatment, and enabled us to think of the regular school as a representation place of the
normal life. However, they also reveal, in particular, the need to expand the dialogue
between the hospital class and the regular school, in order to ease the impacts of entry and
return to regular school. |

Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico - CNPq Esta dissertação teve como principal objetivo investigar, com base em narrativas autobiográficas de crianças em tratamento de doenças crônicas, os seus modos de perceber os processos de entrada e retorno à escola regular. Tomamos como objeto de estudo as experiências de 3 (três) crianças em tratamento de doenças crônicas acerca de seus processos de entrada na escola ou de retorno a ela. Em nossa pesquisa adotamos os princípios epistemológicos da pesquisa (auto)biográfica em educação. Situamo-nos também nos estudos da infância, na Psicologia cultural, em uma perspectiva narrativista, e nas teorias da escolarização em contexto de adoecimento. Participam da pesquisa 03 (três) mães e 03 (três) crianças, entre 05 (cinco) e 06 (seis) anos de idade, que tiveram acompanhamento pedagógico na classe hospitalar, lócus da pesquisa, entre os anos de 2014 e 2017. O corpus da pesquisa está constituído pela transcrição das narrativas de três crianças enfermas, produzidas numa situação de “faz de conta”, em rodas de conversa com a pesquisadora e um pequeno alienígena, chamado Alien, que vem de um planeta que não tem escolas; desenhos das crianças; transcrição de entrevistas narrativas com as mães das crianças; anotações no diário de campo da pesquisadora sobre as atividades de pesquisa e observações da vivência durante as atividades de campo. As análises revelaram que os processos de entrada e retorno à escola regular são repletos de desafios para a criança enferma, contudo, representam, essencialmente, o retorno à normalidade da vida. Em conclusão, as narrativas das crianças corroboraram para a afirmação da classe hospitalar como uma importante aliada no acesso à escolarização e à continuidade dos estudos por parte de crianças enfermas, durante o tratamento de saúde, e nos possibilitaram pensar a escola regular como um lugar de representação da normalidade da vida.
