This article aims to report an experience lived during the period of the COVID-19 pandemic at the Santos Dumont State School, Parnamirim/RN, relating the Teaching of History and the challenges of using the educational methodological tools that ICTs provided to teachers and students. Currently, the universe that encompasses information technologies gains in an accelerated way in our daily lives and in the context of teaching, ICTs had their awakening with education professionals so that we use technological methods more intensively in our lesson plans. ICTs are considered means of connecting the school to advances in technological resources, such as the creation of software, telecommunications and the creation of research in the technological area, which are fundamental for the development of society. New technologies provide innovative teaching resources that certainly attract students who experience the digital age with great enthusiasm and interest. The specific challenge for implementing the applicability of ICTs in education is the role that the teacher will play, as we still see resistance on the part of some teachers to using ICTs in their classes. History teaching has been associating the so-called traditional practices of analysis of historical sources and textbooks with ICTs.
