Resumo:This article aims to present and discuss well-known propositions from the work of Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel that guide or may guide the critical use of substantive and metahistorical content conventionally presented to students by history teachers in Brasil. Through a bibliographical research that takes ten texts accessible in portuguese as a source, we explore I. Kant's theses developed by Hegel, the substantive content of Universal History, ideas of the science of History and dialectics. In the conclusions, we emphasize that Hegel's propositions are inputs not only for the daily discussion on Eurocentrism. It should expand to the sensitive and everyday issues that involve the experience of brazilian students (prejudices of race, religion, biotype and mesological determinism) and to the understanding of basic categories that cross the formation of the History teacher (the ideas of historical method, historical process and teleology). Keywords: Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, History Teaching, History Teacher.
