Resumo:Analyzing school libraries in the historical context is fundamental to understanding their conceptualization and acceptance by the school community. Based on the phenomenological reasoning, in which the object is as the subject perceives it, an analytical bibliographical research was proposed, to reflect on the conception of school library throughout history and the reflection on the performance of its function in the present time. It suggests the integration of the school library through pedagogical planning, respecting its educational and formative autonomy, and its involvement with other sectors of the school. Noting that the library reaches a territory still little explored by the formality of regular education contributing to autonomous and pleasurable learning.
