Multidisciplinary antenatal educational programs have a fundamental task on the supply of information about the pregnancy-birth-postpartum cycle, on the strengthening of the female autonomy and consequent pregnant woman empowerment. Objective: Analyze the effects of an antenatal educational program on the empowerment of pregnant women related to their gestational process and childbirth. Methods: It was a quasi-experimental, longitudinal study. The pregnant women subscribed voluntarily on the educational program for pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum and passed through a series of evaluations before and after the intervention and after childbirth. Data was collected in the Physical Therapy Department of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte. Results: 62 pregnant women were included (mean age: 30,39 ± 5,3 years old and gestational age: 24,1 ± 5,8 weeks. There was no significant results on the empowerment, fear of childbirth and fear of pain. 53,8% felt discommodity during childbirth, and 100% of the participants who had been through labor related that the antenatal education has helped them to deal with pain in childbirth. Conclusion: Antenatal education helps pregnant women to cope better with pain during the parturition process. Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES Introdução: A gravidez e o parto são eventos únicos na vida de uma mulher. Para que esses momentos sejam vividos em seus potenciais e tenham desfechos positivos, é importante que a gestante esteja empoderada do seu processo gravídico-puerperal. Os programas multidisciplinares de educação pré-natal têm fundamental importância no fornecimento de informações acerca do ciclo gravídico-parto-puerperal, no fortalecimento da autonomia feminina e consequente empoderamento da mulher grávida. Objetivo: Analisar os impactos gerados por um programa de educação prénatal no empoderamento de mulheres com relação a seus processos gestacionais, medo da dor, apoio social recebido, e satisfação com o parto Metodologia: Trata-se de um estudo longitudinal, quase-experimental. As gestantes inscreveram-se voluntariamente no curso de educação pré-natal e foram avaliadas antes e após a intervenção, com follow-up no pós-parto. Resultados: A amostra consistiu em 62 gestantes, com idade média de 30,39 ± 5,3 anos e idade gestacional de 24,1 ± 5,8 semanas. Não houve resultados significantes com relação às variáveis empoderamento, medo do parto e medo da dor. Em situação de parto, 53,8% das puérperas relataram mal-estar e 100% das participantes relataram que o curso de educação pré-natal as ajudou a lidar com a dor do parto.
