Resumo:This paper combines findings from two articles that explore how self-control mechanisms impact individuals’ savings behavior. The first article employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) to examine the relationship between self-control variables and saving behavior. It reveals consensus on the positive effect of savings rules, the influence of self-control on financial well-being, and the connection between optimism and self-control. The second article investigates these effects using data from the 2022 Consumer Finance Survey, emphasizing the significance of savings rules and their impact on the likelihood of saving, retirement goals, and their associations with self-control.
