Resumo:The denial of social rights has been assuming an increasing space in the contemporary debate of Public Policy in Brazil. Among them, the human right to adequate food (DHAA, in portuguese), being a right to life, is fundamental to the reach of other social rights. Access to adequate food is often used as an indicator of food and nutritional security of a population, subsidizing policies and actions by the public power. Indigenous peoples in Brazil present a complex framework of social vulnerability related to access to food that aggravate their food and nutritional insecurity situation. The food and nutritional situation of indigenous peoples residing in the territory of the state of Rio Grande do Norte (RN) is a secondary issue for the State and little known by civil society, and there are no published studies published in the RN. In this sense, this article intends, based on the analysis of the case of the SagiTrabanda indigenous community of the ethnic group of Potiguara, to discuss the need to affirm the social rights of these peoples while exposing their situation in relation to access to the Human Right to Adequate Food
