| Resumo: | Objective: To understand the motives that led Nursing students of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the city of Trairí in the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, in northeast of Brazil, to participate in the university extension projects. Method: An analytical study of descriptive-exploratory nature, with qualitative approach, was conducted with 15 students from the Nursing School of Facisa/UFRN, city of Santa Cruz/state of Rio Grande do Norte, who actively participated in extension projects. Results: The results indicate that the reasons which led students to participate in extension activities were the financial factor, curriculum improvement, and the approach area. Conclusion: the offering institution should recruit students to attend university extension projects, changing thefocus from financial compensation to social methodology |
