Resumo: | This work aims to analyze songs that address the city of Natal, seeking to understand how the individual’s relationship with the city occurs. For that, two representative songs were chosen in this regard, which are Cidade Amor (Glorinha Oliveira and Fernando Luiz) and Linda Baby (Pedro Mendes). These songs were analyzed based on the theoretical assumptions of discourse semiotics, seized from Barros (1990, 2011), Fiorin (2008), among other authors, as well as as one of the developments of this current, the semiotics of song, as exposed in Lopes and Tatit (2008) and Tatit (1998, 2007), an approach for which processes of meaning in songs are constructed thanks to ways of compatibility between melody and lyrics, elements that make up the expression plan of these texts. The analysis shows us that, in these productions, the subject who inhabits the city of Natal establishes a relationship with it marked by satisfaction and gratitude, expressed through feelings of love and happiness. Much of this is explained by the fact that the city is understood above all as an environment full of natural charms, dialoguing with a common imaginary about its touristic vocation. |
