Resumo:This research has the general objective of analyzing the two main political strategies in dispute in the Brazilian left: the popular-democratic and the socialist strategy through the PT and the PCB and to identify how the theme of sexual and gender diversity appears in the elaborations of these parties. For this, we seek:1. to historicize the emergence of these strategies: their programmatic elements, evidencing limits or possibilities of realization in the particularities of the dependent capitalist Brazilian reality; 2. analyze the determinations that triggered the crisis of the political party in relation to LGBTI+ people and the contributions that the party form can make to the appreciation and strengthening of the debate around diversity and the fight against oppression;3. to analyze how the theme of sexual diversity has been incorporated and worked on in the referred political parties. As methodological procedures, we adopted bibliographical research, of a qualitative nature, in works that address issues related to the theme of human and sexual diversity and the left. We also carried out a document analysis on the websites of the two parties and on the government program of the presidential candidacies of these parties for the year 2022. The analyzed data are dated from 2017 to 2022. As a result, we have: the popular-democratic project updates basic elements the national-democratic program; the socialist strategy starts from the criticism of the pesebista and petista projects; PCB and PT, although in different ways, tend to make LGBTI+ demands secondary in terms of the defense of sexual diversity and the fight against oppression. It is, therefore, a matter of admitting that the recognition and commitment to the needs of the population, in its diversity, must, in addition to integrating the programs of the parties, be revealed in political practice.
