Resumo: | The objective of this review study is to demonstrate, from the perspective of the Reflexive Affective Theory (ART), delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) as a possible "obstacle" to the change of inactive behavior and engagement of people in physical exercise programs, using a narrative review of scientific articles, books and specialized magazines on the subject: behavior change, physical exercise, DOMS and ART. ART can help researchers and physical activity professionals to better understand aspects of human behavior that arise at the time of decision-making between being physically active or inactive, as well as the negative feeling associated with the feeling of DOMS and its consequences in the days following exercise, because for many people, this can be a demotivating factor in the decision making for active behavior. |
