| Resumo: | The objective of this work was to study the relationship between the transparency index of municipalities represented by the Escala BrasilTransparente and the competitiveness index of municipalities, described by the Ranking de Competitividade dos Municípios. To test the relationship, simple linear regression was used on 410 samples. The research is characterized as a quantitative sampling research, with a descriptive approach, with a documentary data collection procedure. Through regression analysis, it was found that there was a positive correlation between the variables. Using the equation y=1.0186x+20.003, it is possible to identify the positive relationship through the positive sign in the equation, thus discarding the null hypothesis H0 “The level of transparency of municipalities does not impact the level of competitiveness of municipalities”. However, it is important to highlight that despite there being a positive correlation between the variables, the value found for the r-squared was considered low, and therefore, it is considered that the variation in variable y can be little explained by the variation in variable x. In the same sense, other studies also showed a positive correlation between transparency indicators and socioeconomic indicators (Jacques et al. 2013, Cruz, 2012, Neves et al. 2015, Ribeiro & Zuccolotto, 2014). |
