The research adopts a qualitative descriptive approach, utilizing data obtained through direct observation of the logistics and dispatch department's daily operations, along with interviews with the managers of these areas. The study identified recent initiatives to improve the goods receiving and dispatch processes; however, it was found that these activities could be enhanced to achieve greater accuracy between physical inventory and the system, as well as a reduction in the time spent on processes. In light of these findings, the need to better understand the inventory management process and propose improvements in outcomes became evident. To achieve this goal, the study employs tools from Material Resources Management, aiming to contribute to the enhancement of current practices and make them more efficient. In conclusion, the study anticipates providing solutions that refine inventory control and goods management in the Distribution Center, fostering greater efficiency and satisfactory results. Este estudo tem como objetivo identificar as ferramentas mais adequadas para aumentar a efetividade do controle de estoques em um pequeno Centro de Distribuição no setor alimentício em Natal, RN. A pesquisa adota uma abordagem qualitativa descritiva, utilizando dados obtidos por meio de observação direta da rotina de trabalho no setor logístico e expedição da empresa, além de entrevistas com os gestores desses setores. O trabalho identificou algumas iniciativas recentes para melhorar o processo de gestão do recebimento e expedição de mercadorias, no entanto, constatou-se que essas atividades podem ser aprimoradas para alcançar, por exemplo, maior precisão entre o estoque físico e o sistema, bem como redução no tempo gasto nos processos. Diante disso, tornou-se evidente a necessidade de compreender melhor o processo de gestão de estoque e propor melhorias nos resultados. Para alcançar esse objetivo, o estudo utiliza ferramentas da Gestão de Recursos Materiais, buscando contribuir para o aprimoramento dos métodos já praticados e torná-los mais eficientes.
