description This article's theme is Autism Spectrum Disorder, whose interest and approach occurred during the author's mandatory curricular internship in an Emergency Care Unit (UPA), where it was possible to witness everyday doubts reported by mothers, family members and those responsible for people with ASD. Given the experience, the research problem emerged as “Challenges faced by the Social Service category, for inclusion, guidance, enabling rights and access to public policies for people with ASD”. In order to respond to the problem, the general objective was to understand the Social Worker's role in dealing with people with ASD. For the purposes of the study, the critical-dialectical method of reading reality was used, valuing the categories historicity, totality, mediation and contradiction. The study is qualitative in nature and regarding the instruments necessary for data collection, document review and surveys of the legal apparatus were used. The relevance of this work lies in the possibility of adding to the debates on the topic, giving greater visibility and seeking to understand how it is possible to expand social assistance networks and especially access to appropriate treatments and care, from the perspective of the Unified Health System (SUS) . It concludes by saying that the implementation of public policies for people with ASD is extremely relevant, both for the category, as well as for their families and people around them, as access to treatment and adequate care must be universal, quality and easily accessible. As a result, it is understood that the role of the State is not only to guarantee access to the network, but to essentially ensure the quality of these services, so that these people can achieve a dignified quality of life. Furthermore, it is possible to state that in addition to the urgent need to fill the existing gaps between the law and the system, it is necessary to implement effective measures, which truly transform the anti-ability struggle of which people with ASD are part. It is important to recognize the reality of people on the Spectrum, in addition, to recognize them as subjects of rights and an integral part of society, as this is essential for the construction of a democratic and inclusive society in which its members can relate and participate actively and on equal terms.

O presente artigo tem como temática o Transtorno do Espectro Autista, cujo interesse e aproximação ocorreram durante a realização do estágio curricular obrigatório da autora em uma Unidade de Pronto Atendimento (UPA), onde foi possível presenciar dúvidas cotidianas relatadas por mães, familiares e responsáveis por pessoas com TEA. Diante da vivência, foi se delineando como problema de pesquisa “Desafios enfrentados pela categoria do Serviço Social, para inclusão, orientação, viabilização de direitos e acesso às políticas públicas das pessoas com TEA”. Com o propósito de responder ao problema, foi elaborado como objetivo geral compreender a atuação do Assistente Social frente a pessoa com TEA. Para fins do estudo, utilizou-se o método crítico-diáletico de leitura de realidade, valorizando as categorias historicidade, totalidade, mediação e contradição. O estudo é de natureza qualitativa e quanto aos instrumentos necessários para a coleta de dados, foram utilizados a revisão documental e levantamentos do aparato jurídico-legal. A relevância deste trabalho está na possibilidade de somar os debates acerca do tema, dar maior visibilidade e buscar compreender como é possível ampliar as redes socioassistenciais e principalmente o acesso aos tratamentos e cuidados adequados, a partir da perspectiva do Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS). Conclui-se, dizendo que a implementação das políticas públicas para as pessoas com TEA é de extrema relevância, tanto para a categoria, quanto para os seus familiares e pessoas que o cercam, pois o acesso ao tratamento e cuidados adequados, deve ser universal, de qualidade e de fácil acesso. Como resultados, compreende-se que o papel do Estado não é apenas garantir acesso à rede, mas assegurar, essencialmente, a qualidade desses serviços, a fim de que essas pessoas possam atingir uma qualidade de vida digna. Ademais, é possível afirmar que para além de uma necessidade urgente de que sejam preenchidas as lacunas existentes entre a lei e o sistema, é necessária a implementação de medidas efetivas, as quais realmente transformem a luta anticapacitista do qual fazem parte as pessoas com TEA.
