Resumo:This research presents the use of the management tool, monitoring, applied to the activities of the heritage management of the Projeto Governo Cidadão. Despite the legal framework that governs heritage management, the research investigated, based on the absence of regulations for the use of asset control instruments, the monitoring tool as an alternative for correcting and improving these activities. In this sense, the research was divided into five parts: an introduction, with brief general details of the work; the theoretical framework, with analysis of the main concepts worked on in this research, being monitoring, considering the difference between analytical and managerial, in addition to heritage management and indicators; then, the methodology, which defined the research as exploratory, of an applied nature and of a qualitative and quantitative nature and divided into three stages, starting with a documentary analysis of the citizen government and the project's heritage sector; then, the elaboration of a matrix for evaluating and validating the indicators, based on the Methodological Guide (SPI, 2010), and finally, the analysis of the indicators. The fourth stage is intervention, prepared based on the analysis of indicators and the final report, prescribing the outsourcing of services and the preparation of logistical planning. Finally, the fifth stage with final considerations, which recognizes heritage management in the public sector as an instrument for controlling assets and its role in strengthening accountability, followed by references and annexes.
