Resumo:Compared to conventional fishing, aquaculture offers efficiency and predictability in the production of aquatic resources, driven by the global increase in demand for aquatic animal protein. The importance of collecting up-to-date production data is emphasized, highlighting the need for systems and software to manage information and support public policies. The use of QGIS is explored as a valuable tool, enabling spatial and georeferenced analyses to identify patterns and trends in aquaculture production. The integration of QGIS with Microsoft Excel is proposed for forecasting analyses, providing a comprehensive approach to understand the current scenario and anticipate the future of aquaculture in Brazil. The proposed study compiled aquaculture production data provided by IBGE for Brazilian regions, states, and municipalities in Rio Grande do Norte, applying forecasting techniques to project production until 2030. Additionally, maps were developed using QGIS software to illustrate the evolution of aquaculture production over the years, contributing to strategic planning and decisionmaking in the sector.
