Resumo:The aim was to investigate the knowledge regarding how postpartum depression affects the feeding of newborns. An integrative literature review was conducted using the Lilacs, Scielo, PubMed, Science Direct, and Scopus databases. The guiding question was: "What are the effects of postpartum depression on the feeding/nutrition of the newborn, according to the literature?" Initially, 218 articles were identified, of which 12 were selected after applying exclusion criteria. After analysis, three subcategories were identified: interactions and knowledge before childbirth, maternal factors that hinder breastfeeding continuation, and factors that assist the breastfeeding process. The literature highlights the importance of interventions by healthcare professionals during prenatal care as a preventive measure to assist mothers in recognizing signs and symptoms of postpartum depression, aiming for assessment, treatment, and adequate support.
