Resumo: | Brazil is a country whose social formation is marked by relations of colonialism, slavery, genocide of original populations and economic dependence. Ethnic-racial and gender discrimination permeates everyday social life and is manifested by various colonialities (of power, knowledge, being). These phenomena also affect the production, access and representation of knowledge, for example, erasing knowledge produced by black people, women and other social groups belonging to minorities, thus causing a process of marginalization of these populations and the perpetuation of colonialities. Libraries and other information units use information and knowledge organization processes and systems to mediate the use of information sources and services. But these processes and systems are also affected by ethnic-racial and gender prejudices and discrimination that exist in society. Thus, these processes and systems for organizing information and knowledge often express directions, biases and ethical conflicts that impact access and use of information, also reinforcing and perpetuating prejudices and discrimination present in society. It is therefore extremely important to identify these biases and promote critical teaching in Librarianship, through the development of tools that collaborate with these educational constructions and the training of ethical librarians who work in favor of social justice. In this sense, this research aims to create a catalog with cases extracted from scientific literature that reflect and analyze biases in the representation of the subject of documents, with the purpose of serving as a tool to support critical teaching in Librarianship. This is a study through bibliographical research, which uses the Scopus, Brapci and SciELO databases as sources. The digital catalog was created on the Zotero platform, using specific metadata for its organization and content description, namely, research method, type of process, type of system/instrument, affected populations, consequences of biases and misrepresentation, among others. As a result, a prototype is presented that brings together 41 articles that address, among other topics, ethical conflicts and biases in processes and systems for organizing information and knowledge; ethnic-racial relations and racism in the area; discussions on thematic representations and knowledge organization systems such as thesauros, subject headings, bibliographic classification systems, as well as alternatives to “decolonize” processes and systems. It is concluded that the catalog can serve as support for reading, summarizing and discussion activities, thus giving visibility to the topic and contributing to critical and decoloniality teaching. |
