Resumo: | The present work was conducted within the scope of the Institutional Scientific Initiation Scholarship Program (PIBIC) of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) and its main objective is to model fretting fatigue using the finite element software ANSYS. More specifically, this work presents a study on the modeling of cylinder-on-plane contacts under fretting and fretting fatigue conditions. To find the ideal simulation parameters, mesh convergence studies and substep (load increments) analysis are presented. The performance of ANSYS's different contact formulations is also investigated. The results obtained in the simulations are compared and validated using analytical solutions. The present work also provides a tutorial for modeling fretting fatigue in the ANSYS software, where the main objective is to contribute to future research in the simulation of mechanical couplings experiencing fretting. |
