Resumo: | The occupational safety in the construction industry is a matter of utmost importance, demanding special attention due to the sector's susceptibility to accidents. In the Brazilian regulatory context, Regulatory Standard 18 (NR 18) plays a central role by establishing guidelines and minimum requirements to ensure the implementation of safety measures in the construction industry. To mitigate key risks in construction, such as falls from heights, impacts from objects, cave-ins, electrical shocks, and exposure to harmful substances, there is a need for the integration of innovative technologies. Among the emerging technologies, notable ones include virtual and augmented reality for worker training, the use of wearable devices for health monitoring, and the implementation of Geographic information Systems (GIS) for equipment and worker monitoring, among others. These innovations provide additional tools to identify risks, train teams, and monitor working conditions, thereby contributing to the creation of a safer and healthier environment for construction professionals. Therefore, this study aims to conduct a literature review focused on three essential pillars: (1) exposition of NR 18; (2) analysis of the main accidents recorded in the sector; and (3) highlighting emerging modern technologies, which are essential resources to provide preventive alternatives and strengthen Occupational Safety and Health in construction. |
