Resumo:It presents the collection of Rare Books from the Biblioteca Central Zila Mamede (BCZM) as an object of public and academic interest. Its general objective is to propose strategies for promoting and disseminating access to Rare Books, in order to attract new users to the Zila Mamede Central Library, providing responsible and appropriate use of the collection. To this end, it has specific objectives: presenting a bibliographical survey about access to Rare Books in view of the information dissemination and knowledge; identify the particularities of the Rare Books Collection in the context of the Special Collections of the Zila Mamede Central Library and develop proposals for dissemination and access to the bibliographic material present in the Rare Books room. Bibliographical research is presented, indicating authors who deal with access to Rare Books and the mediation and information dissemination through these materials, using the case of the Rare Books collection at the Central Library as the object of study. The research also presents a historical review of the formation and development of BCZM and its collection of Rare Books, aiming to outline strategies for accessing and promoting the collection, appropriate to the profile and context of the library. The results obtained infer the feasibility of implementing informational mediation actions in the face of custodial practices that involve the custody of Special Collections and Rare Books collections. It concludes that the proposed strategies meet the theme addressed, promoting information access and attracting new users to the Zila Mamede Central Library through access to the Rare Books Collection.
