Resumo: | The development of the industrial sector over the decades has provided a series of benefits
for human beings that can be easily seen through the wide variety of existing electronic
equipment, as well as through the evolution of means of transport that culminated in the
invention of cars and aircraft. Industrialization was also responsible for boosting economic
growth mainly in countries currently considered to be developed, such as the USA, Canada
and countries that make up the European Union. However, development seen as serving
only profit without worrying about the social and environmental consequences ended up
causing, especially in the 20th century, countless negative impacts, mostly arising from the
emission of carbon dioxide from the burning of fossil fuels, such damage is evidenced by
climate change. As a result, governments and environmental protection organizations
became concerned about these negative impacts and the need to combine economic growth
with so-called sustainable development was recognized. Among the sectors that need rapid
change to contain the advance of climate change is energy. However, just like any other
human activity, negative impacts are also noted in the generation of renewable energy, so
the general objective of this work is to evaluate the social and environmental impacts caused
by the production of energy considered clean. To this end, a systematic literature review
was carried out in the Scopus database and after applying the established methodological
criteria, it was observed that the main factors that have a negative impact are the
modification of ecosystems, the driving away or even the extinction of species of animals, in
addition to conflicts related to land distribution. On the other hand, the creation of jobs and
the reduction in GHG emissions are the main positive points observed. Finally, it was
generally observed that investments are concentrated in solar energy or wind energy
projects. |
