Resumo:Strategic Planning is the process of defining an organization's actions, objectives and goals, as well as finding the best path to achieve these goals. Within the scope of public administration, this type of planning – also known as government strategic planning due to its size – demands several processes. In that case, this final paper aims to model an priority organizational process of a public organization. Therefore, through action research a case study was developed at the Planning, Monitoring and Control Coordination (COPLAC), linked to the State Secretariat for Planning, Budget and Management (SEPLAN) from Rio Grande do Norte. The line of action used was participant observation, documentary research and unstructured interviews, with the support of process management tools. Finally, as a research result, the process “Elaborate the multi-year plan” was identified as a priority in accordance with the public deliveries necessary for the sector, which was systematized in an as-is flowchart with the representation of the activities developed. It should be noted, however, that the objective of this work was not to build a to-be flow, for this reason, the mapped as-is process was not analyzed. The study contributed to the dissemination of theoretical and practical knowledge about BPM and its applicability in the public administration, together with the COPLAC team.
