Resumo:The management of internal control in small and medium-sized companies is of paramount importance for the good development of organizational functions. The following work seeks to analyze the perception of managers regarding the quality of internal controls and management practices as instruments to support management practices. good corporate governance in fuel reseller companies. The importance of this work lies in the need to expand studies on governance within the scope of small and medium-sized companies, mostly family businesses that need to improve their internal control systems and management practices in order to promote transparency regarding management acts., equity for all, accountability to stakeholders, communication and organizational responsibility. This research is classified as descriptive, with an empirical-analytical approach with data collection through a structured questionnaire with closed questions measured using a Likert scale with a level of importance of 05 points and qualitative analyses. The sample comprised all 12 fuel reseller companies in the city of Caicó/RN. In the managers' view, the results point to a gap between the organizations' management practices, internal control and the principles for good corporate governance.
