Resumo:Introduction: Burns can be classified according to their degree of depth, being divided into first, second and third degree, currently a public health problem. During the pandemic period, the recent coronavirus caused numerous reasons associated with burns in the domestic environment, as it was seen that teenagers and elderly people were socially isolated and in addition to the routine use of antiseptics containing alcohol. Objective: to describe the epidemiological profile of burn patients who were hospitalized during the COVID-19 pandemic in Rio Grande do Norte. Method: This is an observational study of a descriptive, exploratory category with a quantitative approach, carried out in November 2023, with secondary information, in which the data obtained is open to the population through the technological platform of the SUS IT Department (DATASUS) from March 2020 to March 2022. Results: 1860 cases of hospitalization due to burns were reported in the State of Rio Grande do Norte. Note the predominance of hospitalizations in the metropolitan region, which showed a greater number of cases, the sex most affected was male, due to external causes, it was observed that exposure to combustion of a very flammable substance stopped most of the events, so that the age group of 30 to 39 years old and 50 to 59 years old had the same registered trademarks. Conclusion: It is concluded that this work is relevant to be based on future prevention actions with investments in health education for the population and to be able to reduce the consequences resulting from burns.
