Resumo:The manufacturing, assembly and operation processes of a solar oven-dryer intended for dehydrating and roasting food are presented. The oven-dryer was made from disused student chairs. This prototype can be used for both purposes, and in this work it is studied in the form of a guava dehydrator. The solar oven mirror contributed greatly to reducing the drying time of the chosen product. the fresh guavas, with a water content of around 85%, remained in a dry state, with a water content of only 5%.The results obtained demonstrated the viability of the dryer, achieving drying in just five hours of exposing the food to the sun. It should be noted that such a prototype, which can perform two functions, can have its manufacturing, assembly and operation processes passed on to people of any intellectual and social level.The objective was to demonstrate, through this study, that elements that would be discarded, when reintroducing them to a new context, added to the use of the largest clean and renewable source available, the Sun, with a specific purpose, provides access to technology in a simple, accessible and efficient. In this way, the construction of the developed drying oven is completely sustainable and low cost. It benefits the environment, as it presents sustainable development, where harmful waste is not produced, at the same time as it generates new energy and also avoids food waste.
