Some common clinical findings, especially in elderly patients with CKD, are a decrease in health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and a higher rate of falls when compared to the general population. Therefore, the objective of this study is to evaluate the quality of life and risk of falls in patients undergoing hemodialysis in the city of Santa Cruz/RN and to compare the results with pre-existing data in the literature. Methodology: This is an observational, descriptive quantitative study with 11 participants. The instruments used were the Kidney Disease Quality of Life Short Form questionnaire (KDQOL-SF 1.3) and the Timed Up and Go (TUG) test. The data were transferred to the statistical program GraphPad Prism 6, and the significance level was considered to be 95%, and the Shapiro-Wilk test and the Spearman test were applied to analyze the distribution of the sample for correlation between variables. Results and Discussion: In the analysis of the KDQOL-SF data, it was observed that the lowest dimensions were professional activity, sexual function, physical performance and emotional performance, and the mean TUG score was 7.0±(1.4) seconds.Conclusion: There was a decrease in HRQoL, especially with regard to physical performance, emotional performance, sexual function and professional activity. No risk of falls was observed in relation to the study population.

Introdução: A doença renal crônica (DRC) é uma síndrome clínica que afeta os rins e evolui de forma lenta e progressiva, tendo a irreversibilidade da função dos rins como sua principal característica. Alguns achados clínicos comuns, principalmente em pacientes idosos com DRC, é a diminuição da qualidade de vida relacionada à saúde (QVRS) e um maior índice de queda quando comparado à população em geral. Logo, o objetivo do estudo é avaliar a qualidade de vida e risco de quedas de pacientes submetidos a hemodiálise na cidade de Santa Cruz/RN e comparar os resultados com os dados pré-existentes na literatura. Metodologia: Trata-se de um estudo observacional, descritivo de caráter quantitativo com 11 participantes. Os instrumentos utilizados foram o questionário Kidney Disease Quality of Life Short Form (KDQOL-SF 1.3) e o Teste Timed Up and Go (TUG). Os dados foram passados para o programa estatístico GraphPad Prism 6, sendo considerado o nível de significância de 95%, para analisar a distribuição da amostra foi aplicado o Teste de Shapiro-Wilk e o teste de Spearman para correlação entre variáveis. Resultados e Discussão: Em análise dos dados do KDQOL-SF, observou-se que as dimensões que obtiveram escores mais baixos foram as de atividade profissional, função sexual, desempenho físico e desempenho emocional e a média do TUG foi de 7,0±(1,4) segundos. Conclusão: Houve uma diminuição da QVRS, principalmente no que se refere ao desempenho físico, desempenho emocional, função sexual e atividade profissional.
