Resumo:Introduction: Family planning designates a set of fertility regulation actions, which can help people, predict and control the conception and generation of children. Objective: To understand women’s knowledge about contraceptive methods. Methodology: This is a descriptive study, of a qualitative nature, and an approach through participatory research, it was developed with women of childbearing age in a UBS in the city of Santa Cruz/RN. Data were collected through interviews and analyzed using the collective subject discourse technique. Results: From the analysis of the responses of individuals who participated in the study, the central ideas and anchors that had the same meaning, equivalent or complementary meaning were identified, and were grouped into two central categories, namely: a) Knowledge about of the contraceptive; b) Pregnancy. Conclusion: Given the above, through this research it was possible to understand that users' knowledge about contraceptive methods is quite limiting, where it was evidenced that their use is associated with preventing pregnancies.
