Resumo:Objective: To verify the knowledge of post-stroke patients about the risk factors that can trigger a new event, so that secondary prevention strategies can be carried out. Methods: This was a study with a quantitative and qualitative approach which used the focus group technique with participants in the FACISA project to combat stroke. Individuals with a clinical diagnosis of stroke and who were over 18 years of age were included, and those who had severe cognitive impairment and global disability according to the Modified Rankin Scale were excluded. 10 statements containing different risk factors were used, in which participants were instructed to raise a card written true or false at the end of each statement, as well as being free to ask questions, or report a life event linked to the risk factor. of the affirmative. Results: Of the 11 participants invited, only 7 met the inclusion criteria, with 100% getting the statements correct. Of these, 57.14% of the sample had doubts, or reported statements about diet and smoking, so that 14.28 % undergoes follow-up with a nutritionist, and 42.85% of participants have a history of smoking. Conclusion: In the sample studied, those selected were able to identify the factors that could lead them to suffer a new event, however they lack health education focused on the intake of foods that contribute to better health, and consequently, favor the non-occurrence of another event.
