The influences of the mostly sexist historical roots in society are reflected in gender inequality in the workplace. Given this, based on the premise that female empowerment is, initially, about the advancement and independence of women in various aspects of life, it is essential to analyze how the application of this instrument in the job market can contribute to the rise of women in management positions. leadership. The present study aims to explore this theme, in order to understand the changes that have occurred and their emerging challenges in private organizations and society. It will address the topic of empowerment, barriers to female advancement, ways of empowering women and the benefits of female leadership on the company's results. To this end, this study was developed through quantitative-qualitative research, through a questionnaire applied to employees in leadership positions in a retail organization, in addition to carrying out a bibliographical research, through books, articles, research and other texts. Thus, the study presents a hybrid, quantitative and qualitative typology. Finally, throughout this work, the challenges and opportunities were seen, in addition to the historical-contemporary social trajectory of women leaders in Rio Grande do Norte, as well as it was possible to analyze and understand the challenges and opportunities faced by women in their professional trajectory in leadership positions. However, it was verified through this research that the professional advancement of women in leadership positions has increased exponentially over the years, however, there is still a long way to go. Thus, the benefits associated with an organization with female leaders have demonstrated positive results in revenue, team performance and customer satisfaction. With this, it was possible to conclude that female participation in leadership positions generates healthier and more profitable professional environments, and that female empowerment contributes to the advancement of women through educational, professional and personal development. Therefore, promoting female leadership is extremely important to provide opportunities for professional advancement in senior management positions for women.

Este estudo demonstra e evidencia a construção e a evolução do protagonismo das mulheres líderes no varejo potiguar, além de abordar os desafios e oportunidades intrínsecos à participação feminina no mercado de trabalho. Valendo-se deste tema, além de analisar os benefícios e o desenvolvimento da ocupação feminina em cargos de liderança, o objetivo deste trabalho é demonstrar as dificuldades para ascensão da liderança feminina, e mostrar de que forma o empoderamento da mulher líder influencia na sua ascensão no âmbito do varejo potiguar. As influências das raízes históricas majoritariamente machistas na sociedade se refletem na desigualdade de gênero no ambiente laboral. Diante disso, partindo da premissa de que o empoderamento feminino se trata, inicialmente, do avanço e independência das mulheres em vários aspectos da vida, é fundamental analisar como a aplicação desse instrumento no mercado de trabalho pode contribuir para a ascensão das mulheres em cargos de liderança. O presente estudo visa explorar essa temática, a fim de entender as mudanças ocorridas, seus desafios emergentes nas organizações privadas e na sociedade. Irá tratar do tema empoderamento, barreiras sobre ascensão feminina, formas de empoderamento da mulher e os benefícios da liderança feminina nos resultados da empresa. Para isso, este estudo foi desenvolvido por meio de uma pesquisa quantitativa-qualitativa, por meio de um questionário aplicado a colaboradoras em cargos de liderança de uma organização varejista, além da realização de uma pesquisa bibliográfica, por meio de livros, artigos, pesquisas e outros textos. Deste modo, o estudo apresenta uma tipologia híbrida, quantitativa e qualitativa. Por fim, ao longo deste trabalho foi visto os desafios e oportunidades, além da trajetória social histórica-contemporânea acerca das mulheres líderes no Rio Grande do Norte, bem como foi possível analisar e compreender os desafios e oportunidades enfrentados pelas mulheres na sua trajetória profissional em cargos de liderança. Com tudo, foi verificado por meio desta pesquisa que a ascensão profissional feminina atuante em cargos de liderança apresenta uma crescente exponencial ao longo dos anos, porém, ainda há um longo caminho a ser percorrido. Assim, os benefícios associados a uma organização com líderes femininas demonstraram resultados positivos em faturamento, desempenho de equipe e satisfação dos clientes. Com isso, foi possível concluir que a participação feminina em cargos de liderança gera ambientes profissionais mais saudáveis e lucrativos, e que o empoderamento feminino colabora com a ascensão das mulheres por meio do desenvolvimento educacional, profissional e pessoal.
