Resumo:This study demonstrates and highlights the construction and evolution of the protagonism of women leaders in retail in Rio Grande do Norte, in addition to addressing the challenges and opportunities intrinsic to female participation in the job market. Using this theme, in addition to analyzing the benefits and development of female occupation in leadership positions, the objective of this work is to demonstrate the difficulties in the rise of female leadership, and show how the empowerment of female leaders influences their rise. within the scope of retail in Rio Grande do Norte. The influences of the mostly sexist historical roots in society are reflected in gender inequality in the workplace. Given this, based on the premise that female empowerment is, initially, about the advancement and independence of women in various aspects of life, it is essential to analyze how the application of this instrument in the job market can contribute to the rise of women in management positions. leadership. The present study aims to explore this theme, in order to understand the changes that have occurred and their emerging challenges in private organizations and society. It will address the topic of empowerment, barriers to female advancement, ways of empowering women and the benefits of female leadership on the company's results. To this end, this study was developed through quantitative-qualitative research, through a questionnaire applied to employees in leadership positions in a retail organization, in addition to carrying out a bibliographical research, through books, articles, research and other texts. Thus, the study presents a hybrid, quantitative and qualitative typology. Finally, throughout this work, the challenges and opportunities were seen, in addition to the historical-contemporary social trajectory of women leaders in Rio Grande do Norte, as well as it was possible to analyze and understand the challenges and opportunities faced by women in their professional trajectory in leadership positions. However, it was verified through this research that the professional advancement of women in leadership positions has increased exponentially over the years, however, there is still a long way to go. Thus, the benefits associated with an organization with female leaders have demonstrated positive results in revenue, team performance and customer satisfaction. With this, it was possible to conclude that female participation in leadership positions generates healthier and more profitable professional environments, and that female empowerment contributes to the advancement of women through educational, professional and personal development. Therefore, promoting female leadership is extremely important to provide opportunities for professional advancement in senior management positions for women.
