description |
Chikungunya fever has a negative impact on functionality, resulting in limitations in daily activities, generating restrictions on social participation and promoting a decrease in functional capacity in the lives of those affected. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of a functional exercise protocol on improving the functionality of patients with chronic chikungunya. It is characterized by being a
randomized and controlled clinical trial. The study was carried out at the Physiotherapy School Clinic of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. A total of 39 patients were randomly allocated and divided into 2 groups: a ground group (21 patients) and a therapeutic pool group (18 patients). Both groups performed 6 weeks of intervention. The main measures to assess physical function were the 30-second Sit and Stand test, Time and up go test, 40-meter fast walk test and 8-step ascent and descent test. There were no statistical differences between the groups for the 30'' Sit and Stand Test, the 40-meter Fast Walk Test and the 8-meter Ascent and Descent Test. In the intragroup analysis, GRF showed significant improvement in all evaluated outcomes, except for TSD8, in which GTA stood out. In this study, participants who performed the protocol for 6 weeks showed improvements in physical function according to the results of functional tests. |

In this study, participants who performed the protocol for 6 weeks showed improvements in physical function according to the results of functional tests. 2023-12-19T12:02:14Z 2023-12-19T12:02:14Z 2023-12-14 bachelorThesis SILVA.
