Resumo:Population growth and urbanization directly influence the increase in solid waste production, resulting in the formation of numerous degraded areas around the world due to their inadequate disposal. Each type of solid waste requires a specific form of final disposal, so when this does not occur properly, dumping grounds are formed, resulting in a decrease in the environmental quality. Since degradation negatively impacts the health of the population and ecosystems, it is essential to restore these damaged areas. Therefore, the present study aims to develop a proposal for a Degraded Area Recovery Plan (PRAD) for the old civil construction and pruning waste landfill in the municipality of São Gonçalo do Amarante/RN, so that it can be applied in the future. The study area covers 1.47 hectares, with large piles of waste on the ground, consisting of urban cleaning, civil construction, electronics and household waste. For that reason, a diagnosis of the current situation in the area was carried out, defining the most appropriate recovery techniques. For application in the study area, the phytostabilization technique was proposed, through dense planting, aiming at accelerated soil coverage to control erosion and reduce water infiltration. Finally, the amount of human and material resources necessary to execute the PRAD were established, as well as the schedule for carrying out the activities for the period from 2024 to 2026.
