Resumo:Introduction: Due to exercise intolerance and consequent limitations in activities of daily living (ADLs), which are common clinical features in patients with heart failure, the assessment of functional capacity should be widely employed to measure treatment response, monitor disease progression, and predict prognosis in these patients. Although there is consensus that instruments used to measure health outcomes should have good measurement properties, the Glittre Activities of Daily Living (ADL-Glittre) test has not yet had its properties studied in patients with heart failure. Objective: To assess the validity and reliability of the ADL-Glittre test in patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). Methods: Retrospective cross-sectional study, including adult patients aged 18-80 years, of both biological sexes, diagnosed with HFrEF, who underwent initial assessment in the cardiac rehabilitation program at CORE/HUOL: 6-minute walk test (6MWT), ADL-Glittre test, handgrip dynamometry, and Minnesota Living with Heart Failure Questionnaire (MLHFQ). Results: 75 medical records were evaluated, with a final sample of 22 patients. The time of the ADL-Glittre test (T-Glittre) showed a moderate correlation with the 6-minute walk distance (r = - 0,51, p = 0,025) and with the physical dimension score of MLHFQ (r = 0,67, p = 0,009). No significant correlation was found between T-Glittre and ejection fraction, as well as with handgrip strength measurement. Test-retest reliability for T-Glittre showed a moderate intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC = 0,7). Conclusion: The data suggest that the ADL-Glittre test is a valid and reliable tool for assessing the functional capacity of patients with HFrEF.
