Objective: to evaluate the influence of diet and eating habits on the oral condition of children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Methods: A systematic review was conducted according to the PRISMA checklist (PROSPERO no.: ID 476966). The search strategy used the combination of words: autism, diet, eating habits, oral condition, children and adolescents, and was applied to the electronic databases Medline (PubMed), Embase, Scopus, Web of Sciences, Lilacs and Scielo. Eligibility criteria included children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder between 0 and 12 years old. Meanwhile, literature reviews have been restored. There were no restrictions on language or year of publication. Data collection was carried out by three independent examiners and occurred using systematized practices. The quality of the studies was assessed using the Joanna Briggs Institute Critical Appraisal Checklist SIGN (JBI) and the article's adherence to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta Analyzes (PRISMA) was checked. Results: 461 articles were identified in the databases. However, 12 cross-sectional studies, 2 cohort studies, 3 self-styled case-control studies, 1 case series, 1 qualitative and 1 systematic review remained for complete reading. The articles included were concentrated in the English language, between 2007 and 2022, and only 01 study was considered of high or moderate quality. Conclusion: This systematic review only found studies that associate sugar consumption and oral diseases. There are no studies on eating habits and oral condition in children with autism spectrum disorder. It should be noted that only one study presented high methodological quality and its conclusion was that there is no difference in sugar exposure and the occurrence of cavities between atypical and typical children. |

There are no studies on eating habits and oral condition in children with autism spectrum disorder. It should be noted that only one study presented high methodological quality and its conclusion was that there is no difference in sugar exposure and the occurrence of cavities between atypical and typical children.
