The objective was to map the care provided by the nursing team to newborns undergoing
phototherapy in a maternity ward and compare them to what is evidenced in the literature. This
is a cross-sectional study and literature review developed in two stages. In the first stage, an
integrative review of the literature was carried out in the databases Lilacs, Cumulative Index to
Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), Cochrane Library, Pubmed, Brazilian Digital
Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD), SCOPUS , and Web of Science. In the second
stage, an interview was conducted with nursing professionals who provide direct care to
newborns undergoing phototherapy. The sample included 20 participants, and data collection
was carried out in September 2023, using a questionnaire developed for the research. Four
articles were found in the integrative literature review that supported the construction of the
instrument with the main care aimed at newborns undergoing phototherapy. The interview
highlighted the care related to the mandatory placement of eye protection in newborns using
phototherapy and the importance of guidance on breastfeeding and strengthening the mother-
baby bond (100%). Furthermore, 85% emphasized the evaluation of skin characteristics and
physiological eliminations, while 80% highlighted body exposure during phototherapy, and
70% stated that they checked the comfort and well-being of the newborn. As for institutional
protocols, 60% of professionals did not incorporate them and 90% do not participate in training
on neonatal phototherapy. It is concluded that not all phototherapy care evidenced in the
literature is implemented by the nursing team in the maternity ward with this population. |

Objetivou-se mapear os cuidados realizados pela equipe de enfermagem ao neonato submetido à fototerapia em uma maternidade e compará-los ao evidenciado na literatura. Trata-se de um estudo transversal e revisão de literatura desenvolvido em duas etapas. Na primeira etapa, efetuou-se a realização de uma revisão integrativa da literatura nas bases de dados Lilacs, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), Cochrane Library, Pubmed, Biblioteca Digital Brasileira de Teses e Dissertações (BDTD), SCOPUS, e Web of Science. Na segunda etapa, conduziu-se uma entrevista com profissionais de enfermagem que oferecem cuidados diretos a neonatos em fototerapia. A amostra incluiu 20 participantes, e a coleta de dados foi realizada em setembro de 2023, utilizando um questionário desenvolvido para a pesquisa. Foram encontrados quatro artigos na revisão integrativa de literatura que subsidiaram a construção do instrumento com os principais cuidados voltados para os neonatos em fototerapia. Na entrevista destacaram-se os cuidados relacionados à colocação obrigatória do protetor ocular nos neonatos em uso de fototerapia e a importância da orientação para aleitamento materno e fortalecimento do vínculo mãe-bebê (100%). Ademais, 85% enfatizaram a avaliação das características da pele e eliminações fisiológicas, enquanto 80% destacaram a exposição corporal durante a fototerapia, e 70% afirmam verificar o conforto e bem-estar do neonato.Quanto aos protocolos institucionais, 60% dos profissionais não os incorporam e 90% não participam de capacitação sobre fototerapia neonatal.
