Resumo:Enteral Nutritional Therapy is frequently used to recover and/or maintain the nutritional status of hospitalized individuals. However, it is necessary to evaluate the quality of the prescription and supply of the diet, through Quality Indicators, in order to avoid possible complications during the period of hospital stay, and improve the quality of hospital nutrition services. Therefore, the present work aims to evaluate the quality of the Nutrition service in the wards of a university hospital, through the use of Quality Indicators in Enteral Nutritional Therapy in adult and elderly hospitalized patients undergoing Enteral Nutrition. Methods: This is an observational, longitudinal and prospective study, with non-probabilistic sampling, in which nutritional assistance will be evaluated, based on the application of 4 Quality Indicators of Enteral Nutritional Therapy in adult and elderly patients admitted to the wards of a university hospital in Natal/RN, comparing with the goals proposed by the International Life Sciences Institute (ILSI). Results: In a sample of medical records of 88 patients, 99.3% presented estimates of energy expenditure and protein needs, 86.2% had adequate dietary infusion, 90.9% were not subjected to prolonged fasting periods and 50% had their adequate energy-protein offerings. Conclusion: Of the 4 indicators evaluated, 75% of them obtained satisfactory results, with percentages of adequacy in accordance with the suggested goals. Data lag due to lack of records in medical records hindered obtaining more accurate results.
