Resumo:Objective: To know the perception of Primary Health Care nurses regarding HIV serodifference. Method: A qualitative study conducted with 13 nurses from Primary Health Care in the city of Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, through the focus group technique. The group took place in a meeting during the month of November 2023, guided by a guide script with triggering questions. The discussions were audio-recorded, transcribed, and analyzed using thematic content analysis. Results: Nurses understand HIV serodifference; however, they perceive that skills and competencies to deal with this situation are still deficient in the context of care. The situation of HIV serodifference was associated with specific user groups, such as pregnant women and their partners, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and the elderly, emphasizing the importance of nurses being prepared to address the demands of HIV serodifference. Final considerations: The perceptions highlight that HIV serodifference is increasingly present in the routine of primary health care nurses and manifests in different user groups, underscoring the importance of fostering professional preparation at the knowledge level.
