Resumo:Candidosis are infectious conditions caused by yeasts of the genus Candida and are treated with traditional antifungal agents that have limitations such as microbial resistance and toxicity. To this end, new complementary approaches that can overcome these limitations are suggested, such as phytotherapy, probiotics and photodynamic therapy. We seek to determine the in vitro anti-adherent action of some complementary therapies such as phytotherapy, using the hydroethanolic extract of the plant species Spondias mombin L. (EHSM), the probiotic Lactobacillus rhamnosus (PLR) and photodynamic therapy (TFD), using methylene blue as a photosensitizer, against Candida albicans, Candida tropicalis and Candida parapsilosis. In vitro tests were made in duplicate to evaluate the anti-adhesion potential of these complementary therapies. Glass canes, previously weighed, were placed in test tubes, along with 5.4mL of culture (Sabouraud Dextrose Agar with sucrose) and 0.6mL of the aforementioned therapies, in addition to the positive control with Nystatin 100,000IU/mL (NIS) and negative control (CN) containing only the contaminated culture. In addition, an aliquot of 0.1mL of each microorganism to be tested was added and then the tubes were incubated at 37ºC for 24 hours. After this period, each cane was removed from its initial tube and shaken vigorously in 0.9% saline solution. After that, the canes were reincubated at 37ºC for 24 hours in a new container containing 6mL of mentioned culture so that their final weight could be measured and the difference in weight could be obtained. For statistical analysis, in addition to descriptive interpretation, the One-way ANOVA test was performed, followed by the Tukey test. All therapies exhibited anti-adhesion action. However, when comparing the action of the therapies with each other and with nystatin, the anti-adherent effect of EHSM against C. parapsilosis was remarkable, comparable to the positive control. The effect of PDT against C. tropicalis stands out for PDT and comparing to nystatin. The investigated therapies demonstrated anti-adhesion potential against the strains of the Candida genus tested, with C. tropicalis and C. parapsilosis being more susceptible to these effects, especially to the action of EHSM and TFD.
