Resumo:The year 2020 saw the beginning of the covid-19 pandemic, responsible for one of the biggest health, economic and social crises the world has ever faced. Tourism was among the economic sectors most impacted by the pandemic, due to restrictions on the movement of people and the temporary closure of commerce and non-essential services. Therefore, the present research aimed to measure the impacts of the covid-19 pandemic, from 2020 to 2022, on the labor market in the tourism sector in the municipality of Santa Cruz, an important regional destination for religious tourism in Rio Grande do Norte. The research is exploratory in nature, with a quantitative analysis approach. The main sources of information explored in the research were the General Register of Employment and Unemployment (Caged) and the Annual List of Social Information (Rais), from the Ministry of Economy, and the Sebrae Business Panel database. The results allow us to state that companies in the accommodation sector, travel agencies and restaurants generate a low number of formal jobs in Santa Cruz and with the pandemic, restaurant and similar companies were those that showed the greatest loss of jobs, especially in the year 2021.
