Resumo: | The article aims to analyze the electoral impact of Law No. 12,034/2009, which established a minimum quota of 30% to be filled by the gender with the lower number of candidacies in proportional elections. As in the vast majority of cases, if not in total, the minority gender in electoral matters is female. This article will focus on an analysis from this perspective. Firstly, the paper traces the legislative evolution regarding women's suffrage in Brazil. Subsequently, it examines the municipal legislative elections of 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2020 in the 10 most populous cities of the potiguar Seridó, the field of analysis. The research method used is hypothetical-deductive, through bibliographic and documentary research techniques, based on statistics provided by the Panorama do Legislativo Municipal website of the Federal Senate and the Superior Electoral Court (TSE). After analyzing the data, it is concluded that the aforementioned legislation does not generate an effective impact within the analyzed scope for increasing the number of elected women to local legislatures. |
