Resumo:Faced with the constant need to improve its management of technical-administrative personnel, the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte established on September 26, 2013 its own Committee on Technical-Administrative Personnel in Education – CPPTAE, through Resolution No. 041/ 2013 – CONSAD, linked to the Dean of People Management. Among the activities carried out by the commission, the process of distributing vacancies stands out, which has extreme strategic importance in the management of human resources at UFRN. This work aims to evaluate the quality of the information used in the process of distributing vacancies for technical-administrative employees at UFRN, considering the perspective of CPPTAE members. As specific objectives, the research aims to collect information used by CPPTAE members in making decisions regarding the vacancy distribution process; measure the quality level of information inserted in this context through the categorization of attributes; identify the points of deficiency and strength of each of the proven information from the perspective of the committee members; and propose improvements on the attributes assessed as deficient based on the diagnosis carried out, in order to optimize the process of distributing vacancies in the institution. The approach method used in the research is inductive, as the characteristics are observed and analyzed seeking to discover the causes of their manifestation. Regarding its nature, this work can be defined as applied social research with a mixed or quantitative and qualitative approach. As for the objectives, it is described as descriptive and exploratory. The universe is made up of CPPTAE members, all of whom belong to the UFRN staff and direct participants in the vacancy distribution process. Regarding data collection techniques, documentary research was initially used with the aim of defining what information is used to make decisions in the vacancy distribution process. Next, a questionnaire was developed based on the PSP/IQ Model, by Lee et al. (2002), and applied to all CPPTAE members to measure the level of quality of the information evaluated. Finally, a focus group was held with a sample selected from among the participating members, with the purpose of complementing the analysis of information quality attributes diagnosed with insufficient levels and proposing improvements for each of them. To analyze the quantitative and qualitative data, descriptive statistics and coding were used. The research demonstrated the presence of deficient information quality attributes in the three documents evaluated and, subsequently, constructed an intervention proposal with suggestions for improvements for each of them, with guidance from Situational Strategic Planning (PES). It is expected that the indications for improvement presented here will contribute to generating in CPPTAE the initiative to face the challenges posed and, thus, be able to improve the institution's entire vacancy distribution process, generating as a consequence an increase in quality in the management of people the entire UFRN.
