Resumo:The study anylises administrative disciplinary processes and the role of the Inspector General's Office at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) in Brazil. To do so, it uses documentary and literature research on the topic, relying in the relevant legislation, doctrine, and legal precedents. Quantitative data from UFRN's Inspector General's Office provided by the Federal Comptroller General were also analyzed. The paper presents the constitutional principles applicable to Administrative Disciplinary Proceedings, highlighting legality, impersonality, morality, publicity and efficiency. It discusses the procedural phases of the proceedings - initiation, investigation, defense, report and trial - explaining each stage. The disciplinary penalties applicable to civil servants are also addressed. The role of inspector general's offices in disciplinary proceedings is analyzed, emphasizing their investigative and punitive powers. The last part examines data from the Inspector General's Office at UFRN between 2021-2023 regarding the number of proceedings, plea agreements, and penalties applied to public agents. Due to the recent structuring of UFRN's disciplinary department, the analysis covers a relatively short period and analysis is limited to publicly available information. The study adds value by combining theoretical foundations with practical evidence regarding the application of disciplinary law and disciplinary activities within the context of a Brazilian federal public university. Additionally, the methodology used was exploratory research of a legislative and doctrinal nature, based on the quantitative method. In conclusion, it is observed that there is significant importance in the work carried out in the Inspector General's Office at UFRN unit, with consistent values of processes over the years analyzed and with efficient and prompt action by the Inspector General's Office in the progress of demands.
