Resumo:Introduction: The “dawn phenomenon” refers to periodic episodes of hyperglycemia that occur in the early hours of the morning. It can be conceptualized as fasting hyperglycemia without first having hypoglycemia; Objective: To compile reports from the literature on the management of patients with the dawn phenomenon. Methodology: Integrative review carried out from March to August 2023 with studies published in the last 5 years in the main databases PubMed/MEDLINE, ScienceDirec and Elsevier, in English. Results: The search in the databases resulted in a total of 4,245 published articles, with only 9 being selected to compose the review, according to the eligibility criteria. Conclusion: Prospective studies are needed to be able to conclude the best form of treatment for patients who have the dawn phenomenon present, as due to the studies having many limitations it is difficult to conclude what is the best form of treatment, however it is important that the control of the phenomenon, this will be a big step towards achieving general blood glucose control.
