It has a qualitative approach, is based on the critical dialectical method and to achieve the proposed objectives, a wide bibliographical review was carried out, documental research in medical records and field diaries and field research through the performance of 5 semi-structured interviews with women hospitalized in the referred ward, whose information was submitted to Content Analysis (BARDIN, 2016). The results indicate that the living and working conditions, as well as the history of violence and denial of basic human rights experienced by women, are potential for psychological suffering and the processes of illness which they experience. In this sense, it is essential to take into account the analysis of the social determination of health, the objective and subjective conditions of life, the ways of coping with social inequalities, thus supporting the health care practices developed by the interprofessional team of the Health Care Unit. Psychosocial of HUOL Este artigo objetiva analisar as expressões da determinação social do sofrimento psíquico de mulheres internadas na enfermaria de Saúde Mental do Hospital Universitário Onofre Lopes (HUOL). Possui uma abordagem qualitativa, se fundamenta no método crítico dialético e para alcançar os objetivos propostos foi realizada uma ampla revisão bibliográfica, pesquisa documental em prontuários e diários de campo e a pesquisa de campo por meio da realização de 5 entrevistas semiestruturadas com mulheres internadas na referida enfermaria, cujas informações foram submetidas à Análise de Conteúdo (BARDIN, 2016). Os resultados apontam que as condições de vida e de trabalho, assim como, o histórico de violência e negações de direitos humanos básicos vivenciados pelas mulheres são potencializadores do sofrimento psíquico e dos processos de adoecimento os quais vivenciam.
